GEELONG midfielder Simon Hogan will retire from football after playing in today’s VFL grand final against Port Melbourne.
Hogan faced a fight against depression and is still yet to overcome his battles. He is currently working for mental heath organisation, Head Space.
He has spent the bulk of the season in the VFL despite being on the verge of senior selection at the end of last season.
Hogan joins premiership players Matthew Scarlett and David Wojcinski to announce their retirement and there is expected to be more to come.
